Step 1:
Contact the Instructor of Record, Emmett Peck, [email protected] To make sure there is room in the class.

Step 2:
Issue a check for $210.00 made out to "NSP - Eastern Sierra Region" and send it to Emmett at:

Complete class information form and submit Form.  Simply sending me this form DOES NOT register you for the class.

 Step 3:  I'll let you know when to do steps 3 and 4.
Register with the National Ski Patrol as an "Associate Member" (not a candidate) by logging on to  www.nsp.org and click on Member sign in and Create Account (Skip this step if you are already an NSP member and have a valid 6-digit NSP membership number and simply sign in with your Username and Password).  Annual NSP membership dues are currently $100.00.
Note: First Time NSP registration after July 1, 2026 will be valid to the end of 2027.  Registration with NSP prior to July 1, 2026 will only be valid to the end of the year.
Log out then log back in to the NSP site before going to step 4.

 Step 4:
Register with NSP for this OEC class:
Log into nsp.org.
  1. Select Center for Learning in the upper right-hand corner. 
  2. Select Browse Catalog. 
  3. Once there, select Featured. You will see the Outdoor Emergency Care Hybrid course as an option.
  4. Select Add to Cart.
  5. To confirm purchase and get access, select the cart icon in the upper right-hand corner of the screen.
  6. Select Secure Checkout to check out. Enter your billing and payment information to purchase the course. The course is $150 and can be paid for with a credit or debit card.
  7. Once payment is confirmed, go back to the homepage, and select Go to Your Learning Center.
  8. The Outdoor Emergency Care Hybrid course will appear in your list of current courses. Select Launch.
  9. Once the course is launched, read through the course introduction materials, which consist of What to Expect, the Course Player Instructions, and the skills session registration.
  10. Proceed to content by selecting the Next button. (Note that content can be accessed even if the skills session has not been selected.)
  11. To register for the Skills Session, select the last item in the Course Introduction titled Outdoor Emergency Care Hybrid - Skills Session.
    1. Select Register for Session.
    2. Select Choose Session.
    3. Scroll through the offerings or use the location drop-down to find the session. When you get to "Choosing Session" select Palisades.  You should then see San Ramon 
    4. Enroll in this skills session.
For step-by-step instructions with screen captures, please refer to the OEC Hybrid Student Enrollment How-To in the Document Library on nsp.org.

Step 5:
​Obtain your Outdoor Emergency Care 6th Edition Textbook and starting reading before the start of class.
***The OEC 6 book will be replaced by OEC 7 sometime in 2027.  All patrollers are usually required to have the current OEC book.  This means that in little more than a year from now you'll need to obtain/buy OEC 7.
So that you aren't buying 6 now and 7 then, ask your patrol rep or a fellow patroller or anyone else, to borrow the book for class***
